LINES FOR LITTLE STATESMEN.
[Br Potts.}
The IrrespoQEibles agree, —• And 'tis a sorry sight "W^hcn the Responsibles we see Are come to blows outright. Let " third-rate'men, of coarser mouldy" With brawls disturb the street, But ♦' thorough-breds" should ne'er be bold In fisticuffs to meet. Birds in their little nests agree, And 'tis a shameful sight, That " Pilgrims'' fresh from Canterb'ry Should quarrel, bounce, and fight. Let Wairap' brawl, and bark, and bite, For ' tis his nature true ; Let other " Statesmen" bounce and fighfcj, For that's all they can do,But, Pilgrims, you should never let Such angry passions rise, For sure your hands were never made To bung up members' eyes. Bombastic speech and letters huge, Your future priv'ledge be, But never*think to Parsons "kick . Out of society." As sure as fate, some statesmen great, Their "brats'* are watching now, And " prattle" 'tis they hope to" catch,"" And not to hear a row.
