/^l ENTLEMEN — A vacancy, "having occurred in yoar Provincial Council by the retirement of Mr. G. Moore, I take the earliest opportunity of offering you ray services as one of your Representatives. expected. At tKe same time, 1 will take the opportunity of declaring briefly, but emphatically, my cordial support of those liberal political opinions which a*e now happily in the ascendancy in

this Province, I am, and shall continue to be, a supporter of the present Government, so long as their policy continues in accordance with those liberal institutions which they have so successfully inaugurated. It is from a conviction that my lengthened experience, with regard to the survey? and capabilities of the Waste Lands of the Province, will be of practical service in Council, that I now offer myself as a Candidate ; and, should I be elected, I can with -confidence refer to that l-ndependence of character which, I trust, has ever distinguished me amongst you, as a guarantee that I sball discharge my public duties in a faithful and liberal spirit, I am, ' Gentlemen, Your most obedient servant, ROBERT PARK. The Herald of the Kingdom of God.

HTHE First Number of a Monthly Perio- . dical with the above title, edited by a Layman, will be published on the 2nd of Octo-

ber next. Its leading objects will be — Ist, "Earnestly to <contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the Saints," according to the Divine exhortation. 2nd,, To call attention to "The Signs of the Times,"" indicative as they are of the speedy " coming of the Son of Man in his Kingdom,"

to take unto him his great power and to reign. 3rd, To afford a medium for the free discussion of all topics embraced in ■"the things concerning the Kingdom of God and the Name of

Jesus Christ." 4th, To expose the errors of the various false systems of Religion which have from time to time been palmed upon mankind for Truth, and which are so subversive of the Religion of the Bible. Such being the leading objects of the Herald, it will become identified with no sect or party whatever. The Editor's aim will be to •" fight the good fight of faith with the two-edged sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." "To prove all things, and to hold fast that which is good." Being "fally persuaded in his own mind" that the Truth can stand any test, and has nothing to fear, he courts the fullest enquiry and examination. Whatever appears iv the pages of the Herald, whether editorial or otherwise, will at all times be open to the comments cf every one who may feel disposed to criticise ; and all questions relating to

the Word of God will be inserted and answered. It is believed that there are* many intelligent persons who see plainly that there is something wrong in the Religious Systems of the present day, yet are unable to answer the question — What is Truth ? To such " The Herald of the Kingdom of God csnnot fail to be acceptable : it will show them " the truth as it is in Jesus," and what they u must do that they may inherit
