GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NEW ZEALAND. [From the New-Zealander, May 27.)

The first session of the General Assembly under the New Constitution Act had been fixed by Proclamation to commence on Wednesday last, the 24th inst.; and at noon on that day, the Members of the Legislative Council and of the House of Representatives met in their respective chambers in the buildings recently erected as a House of Assembly. It had been previously notified that his Excellency the Officer Administering the Government had by warrant appointed the Chief Justice to administer the Oaths of Allegiance to the Members, as required by law; and his Honor was accordingly present for the purpose.
