Province of Wellington.

"WHEREAS a Writ under the Hand ** and Seal of Isaac Earl Fbathbrston, Esq., Superintendent of the said Province, bearing date the sixth day of June, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-four, hath been directed to me, William Hickson, Esq., Acting Returning Officer of the City of Wellington, in the said Province, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a memberfor the City of Wellington aforesaid, in the Provincial Council of the said Province, in the place of Kenneth Bethune, Esq., late a Member for the City of Wellington, aforesaid, in the said Provincial Council of the said Province, who has resigned his scat in the said Council, and whose resignation has been duly received by the said Superintendent. Now TiiEiiKFonE I, the said William Hickson, Esq., Acting Returning Officer for the City of Wellington, Do Hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, Give Notice, That a Public Meeting of the Electors of the City of Wellington, will be holden at Noah's Ark, situate on Lambton Quay, in the City of Wellington, aforesaid, on Monday, the 26th day June next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve ns a Member for the City of Wellington, in the said Provincial Council of the said Province : And in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such Polling shall take place on Tuesday, the 27th day of June next, at Noah's Ark aforesaid, the voting to commence at any time after nine o'clock of the said day, and to close at four o'clock in the afternoon of the said day.
