Church of England Education Society, Wellington. A T the Annual General Meeting of the Members of the Church of England Education Society, held at the Thorndoti School-House, on the 21st February last, the following Resolution was unanimously adopted, viz. r— " That is desirable that Ihe standard of secular education of these schools, in connection with the Church of England, be raised as high as possible." In order to give effect to the said resolution the Local Committee have determined to arrange, with as little delay as possible, each of the Society's Schools in Wellington into upper, middle, and lower departments ; particulars a3 follows : — ' Lower Department. The instruction given in this division of the School will be adapted to the capacities of the children. Terms — Eightpence per week, or Seven Shillings quarterly, paid in advance. Middle Department. Course of Instruction. English Reading History of England Spelling General Geography Grammar Arithmetic Composition Writing Terms — One Shilling per week, or Eleven Shillings per quarter, paid in advance. Upper Department. Course of Instruction. Includes the subjects taught in the middle department ; and in addition thereto — Latin Book-Keeping French Geometry Vocal Music Algebra Linear Drawing Mensuration General History Terms — Thirty Shillings per quarter. No entrance-money will be charged in future. In all the departments. Religious Instruction in accordance with the teaching of the Church of England will, as heretofore, be regularly given to the Pupils. By order of the Local Committee, J. C. RAYMOND, Secretar}'. Lowry, of Ahuriri District, was removed sometime between the first of April and end of August, 1853, either from Mr. Newton's Store, at Ahuriri, or from one of the trading vessels, either the plicebe or Salopian, and has not been returned, this is to give notice, that whoever will give such information as will lead to the recovery of the Writing-Desk, shall'receive a reward of Thirty Pounds ! April 1, 1854.
