T<HIS COMPANY is formed for the -*- purpose of erecting a powerful Steam Flour Mill in the City of Wellington, by the aid of which the following and many other highly desirable objects would be attained : — The community, through its agency, will to a great extent, be protected against undue monopoly, in one of the most essential of its daily wants, as the means of grinding Wheat into Flour will be placed within the reach of all classes. The disappointment, delay, and loss to which growers and holders of Wheat are so frequently subjected, owing mainly to the inadequate mill power at present in operation in this settlement will be entirely obviated. The producers of wheat will have a much more steady and remunerative market to depend on, as it is notorious that the difficulty so often experienced of getting Wheat ground is frequently the sole reason why a low price is offered, which in many cases the seller has no alternative but to accept. It is generally admitted that the erection of a powerful Steam Flour Mill, such as contemplated by the Company, would give an immense stimulus to parties engaged in agricultural pursuits, and be the means of inducing both the European and Native population to make increased exertions therein, so that in all probability this Province would in a few years be in a position to carry on «n extensive export trade* provided the necessary facilities are afforded for producing Flour that can be warranted to keep, and bear comparison in quality with what is made elsewhere.

This Company propose to procure from London two ten horse power engines, capable of driving four pair of stones, and grinding up-war-ds of twenty bashek of Wheat per . hour {equal to ten tons of Flour per day) ; also in connexion vrrtfc the foregobg^a Biscuit Baking Machine, that will produce one ton of Biscuits per day. And it has -been calculated jhat if the Mill is'only kept going equal to an average of six hours per day, it would more than pay all expenses, including interest on the capital paid up at the rustosnary rate. To carry out the objects of thi3 Company, namely, the purchase of the Mill and Biscuit Baking Machine,, *he oos^t of a suitable freehold site to erect it on, the expense of putting up the Mill and necessary buildings, including a wharf adapted for coasting vessels, it has been estimated that the sum of £<G,QOO would be required, which it. is intended to .raise in the following manner, — cay by the iissue of 1,600 shares, value £5 each.haif the amount .of each share to be deposited with .the application, the balance to be called for from time .to time when requisite to carry >an the Company's operations, hut no iCall to be made for three months after the allotment of the shares, or without giving at least two months' notice. The management of the Company to be vested i i a Board of Directors not exceeding five in number, who are to be selected from holders of not less than twenty shares. The Directors to prepare and lay before the Shareholders halfvearly accounts properly audited, and to call a general meeting of the Pioprietors at any time when called upon by requisition signed by onethird of the Shareholders. . The Directors and other officers of the Company to be elected by the Shareholders at the first general meeting, to be called as soon as the share list is filled up, and the deposits lodged in the Banker's hands. Holders of from one to five shares to be entitled to one vote, holders of more than five shares to be allowed one vote for every five shares. In the establishment of the Company every possible means will be taken to limit the liabi-. lity of the Shareholders to the actual amount of their respective shares, either by obtaining a Charter of incorporation from^the Legislature or otherwise, as shall be deemed nibst advantageous for the interest of the Company. Application for Shares to be made in the . following form on or before the tenth day of March next, addressed to Mr. Braithwaite, Provisional Secretary, at his office, Plimmer's Wharf. Wellington, Silt, Be pleased to allot me Shares in the Wellington Steam Flour Mill Company, in respect of which I enclose you Banker's deposit receipt for the sum of £ ; and I herrb * agree to accept the same shares, or any less number which may he allotted to me, and to execute, when required to do. so, any deed or deeds of settlement, or other deeds or documents which may be necessary for conbtituting the Company.
