Civil List Bill. — This bill has now finally passed the Counjil, and the salaries prospectively 'fixed are as follows :— The, Governor, £4000 per' annum ; £»sl Judge, 4 £1700 ; Second Judge, £1500; Advocate-General,, £1200 ; Solicitor General, (new office) £1000 ;' Crown Solicitor, £700 • Colonial Secretary, £1500 ; Under Secretary, £600; Colonial Treasurer, £1000; Auditor General, £80,0 ; Clerk of Executive
[ Council, £400 ; Collector of Customs, £800 ; : and Commissioner of Crown. Lands {who is to be a responsible .officer .of the .Government,) £800. i The entire amount, of the Civil List is £18,000. | The compensation to Be given to the present officers of Government who wilTbe liable to lose office on the introduction of responsible government is equaj to- four years'*pres.en.t (salary ; thus the Colonial Secretary receives £3,400 ; the Advocate General* £3,000 ; the Colonial Treasurer, £2,600;> the Collator of Customs; £2000; and- the iComraissioner of Crown. 'Lands, £l-,400.-Exploration of the T'Nf Ea!toft:'~-Af , the sittingof the r Legislative/ Couacilfon the 21st instant, on the motion of'lfrr. Waterhouse, it was resolved " that an address .be presented to His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, requesting that he will place upon the estimates such sum as he may deem necessary to ensure the effectual exploration of the territory of this province, and to further the, progress of discovery in the interior of this continent; and that, with the advice of the Executive Council, he will take such further steps as he may deem necessary to secure this cud with, as little, delay as possible."
