ADELAIDE. (From the Correspondent of the Melbourne Argus.) August 30th, 1853.

Judge a'Beckett's arrival in England. — We doubt not that very many of our readers will be glad to learn that Sir William a'Beckett arrived with his family in England, by the Northumberland, in good health. A singular circumstance, which occurred to him upon his landing at Portsmouth, has been related to us, and we fancy that it will somewhat shake the nerves of those colonists who have been absentees from the mother country for any considerable length of time. On Sir William's landing, he was assisted into a fly, to convey him to his hotel, by a stranger, who coolly ensconced himself in the same vehicle. On requesting an explanation of the intrusion, he found that his companion was no other than his brother, Mr. Gilbert a'Beckett, so well known to the world as one of the most racy contributors to Punch and other periodicals. It seems that Mr. a'Beckett was acquainted, probably by description, with his brother's appearance, and had thus presented himself togreet him on his arrival. — Melbourne Herald*
