AMERICA.

[From the Sydney Morning Herald.'] We have San Francisco papers to the Bth of Jane, and New Yorlc ditto to the sth May. We learn from Kingston, Canada West, that the steamer Ocean Wave was destroyed by fire on Friday night, the 29th April, 6 miles west of the " Ducks," and 50 miles above Kingston. The Ocean Wave was owned at Ogdensburgh, hy the Northern Railway Compauy, and has ■ been running between that port and Hamilton i for freight and passengers. Sne was on her downward trip. She was insured in different States and the Canadas. The Ocean Wave had on board 14 cabin and 9 deck passengers, besides .4 children and the crew, who swelled the number to about 50, of whom 22 were saved. •The schooner Georyiana hove in sight, lowered a boat, which was manned by her mate and two sailors, and succeeded in picking up IS persons. In two minutes after their rescue the wreck went down. She had drifted eight miles from the shore before she sunk. The captain, first mate, and. one passenger, reached the shore near the disaster, and the vessel brought the rest to Kingston. Lola Montes (we beg her pardon, the Countess of Landsfelt) has arrived at San Francisco, and created an extraordinary sensation. The Alta notifies that on the first night " the building •was literally stowed with human beings ;" that' "ihe Spider Dance is a very remarkable aifair;' and that " Lola is sure to have fine success with us.; this is a fixed fact ; and to say that, is to say, that she has merit of a high order, for nothing less could succeed with a people so practical and exacting as ours."
