AUCKLAND.
By the Auckland papers received last week we learn that the final state of the Poll for the whole Province was publicly declared by the Returning Officer on the 12th July, when the numbers were as follows :—: — Colonel Wynyard 922 Mr. Brown ... 820 showing a majority of 102 votes in favor of Colonel Wynyard. Mr. Brown had raised a technical objection to Golonel Wynyard'fi return, and had instituted proceedings in the Supreme Court, but the Chief Justice had refused his application. -, A murder had taken place at Howick, one of the Pensioner settlements; William Moore, a pensioner, having killed his wife by stabbing her twice with a shoemaker's knife. The wretched murderer was supposed to be-, insane.
