( (ADVERTISEMENT.) To the Electors of the City of Wellington. GENTLEMEN — I have been persuaded at the eleventh hour to put myself forward as a Candidate at the ensuing Election, as many gentlemen have promised me tfceir votes and interest to obtain a seat in the Provincial Council about to be assembled in this place, and if I should have the honor of befog chosen one of your representatives, I will do all in my power to serve the best interests of my constituents and my adopted country, and I shall be at all times ready to receive advice from my constituents, and will vote on -that side the majority dictate ; and if I cannot carry out their wishes or measures, 1 will resign my seat and trust into their hands when fifty of them please to call upon me to do so, I remain, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, FRANCIS BRADEY, Tamwoith Cottage. ELECTION OF JOHN WALLACE; Esq.

To the Free and Independent Electors of the City of Wellington. r* ENTLEMEN— You may expect that your privileges, as Electors,, will at leegth be confirmed to you by the iss«e of Writs,, and the nomination of Candidates so?rcftr»g k year suffrages for the choice of Members to tit in the forthcoming Legislature. As a Candidate for a seat in* the 1 Provincial Council at Wellington, I hereby »Sev nsyself ; — impressed with the conviction, — shouSd you return me by a majority of your votes, — that a conscientious duty would impel me to aid in the enactment of equal laws for aTI interests, as well as to oppose the introduction of strrh taxation as might bear disproportionately on those whose families are wholly dependent ©p«m their own exertions for the comforts andi necessaries of life. Having uniformly been the advocate of Free Trade, aad-*a enemy to the Protection of one class of the community at the expense of all others, my aim would constantly be to promote such legisUtfoH as would secure to every one the means of acquiring tfor himself a Freehold by honest industry. " With this view, I would give encouragement to the adoption of the (lowest possible amount TW the minimum Tapset price 'for land ; to the of small Allotments-; to the cheapest process of obtaining a Title.; and to the least expensive «mode of Transfer. As the products -of Industry — both to the growei and consumer — must generally remain unprofitable in the absenceof Roads, my attention to the increase of -such means of transit would T)e constant and unremitting. Since it 'may be deemed requisite 'that every one presenting himsdlf to your notice as a Candidate *hoiild make some allusion to his political opinions, 5 may state that my principles are those of prosperity for all, and no oppression : — that is, the 'Cause of the whole j Peqple, and no Class Legislation. ? remain, 'Gentlemen, Your very obedient servant, JOHN WALLACE. WeHington, June "3, 1853.

To tht Electors of Wellington.

FELLOW-COLONISTS — Since acceding to tfce Requisition to allow myself to l»e nominated as a Candidate for the Representation of the City of Wellington in the Provincial and General Legislative Assemblies, I have on reflection arrived at the conclusion that I cowld not with propriety accept the appointment in the General Assembly. My ability to attend the meetings would be entirely dependant upon the locality at which they may be held, and I think the interests of the Colony would be best promoted by the election of Candidates whose attendance would not be subject to such a con-

tingency. With regard to the Provincial Council, other duties will not prevent me from acting should you require my services. I have the honor to be, Fellow-Colonists, Your faithful Servant, ROBERT HART. Wellington, July 22, 1853. ~<

— To the Electors' of Wellington. rjENTLEMEN-^-As a well known advocate for eleveri years of Cheap Land — Fixed Prices — Small Allotments— ari Absentee Land Tax, to construct road's— and of strict Economy in public expenditure,! most respectfully offer myself a Candidate to represent the City of Wellington in the Provincial Council.
