APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE. Passed the 29th day of December, 1852. Preamble.
Whereas, by an Ordinance enacted by the Go-vernor-in-Qhief of the Islands of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the General Legislative Council thereof, session XI, No. 12, intituled "An Ordinance to appropriate the Revenue of the Provinces of New Ulster and New Munster for the year 1851," provision was made for defraying the charge of the Government of the Provinces of New Ulster and New Muntter for the years 1851 and 1852 : Be it enacted, by the Governor-in-Chief of the New Zealand Islands, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows :—: — Appropriation of the Revenue of iB5l and 1852 to be an Appropriation for nine months. 1. That such Appropriation of the Revenue of the said Provinces of New Ulster and New Munstrr as was made by the above mentioned Ordinance for the years 1851 and 1852 shall be deemed and taken to apply to the Appropriation of such Revenue, or that of the districts at present comprised within the said Provinces, for the portion of the year 1853, commencing on the first of January, 1853, and ending on the 30th day of September, 1853, unless the Appropriation of the said revenue, or any part thereof, shall in the meantime be otherwise lawfully provided for. Any portion of the Revenue not otherwise lawfully provided for, to be disbursed as before. 2. That, in' case of the Appropriation of any part of the said Revenue not being otherwise lawfully provided for, the Colonial Treasurer of New Ulster and the Colonial Treasurer of New Munster, or such other officer as may be appointed by the Governor in that behalf within the respective districts now comprised in the said Provinces, may issue from time to time any sum or sums of money for the purposes mentioned in the said Appropriation Ordinance for the years 18,' l and 1852, not exceeding in the whole the
sums respectively specified, to sacfa penon», and in such proportions, at the Governors or other officers administering the Government for the time being of the said Provinces of New Ulster and New Munster, or such districts as aforesaid respectively shall, by any order in writing signed by them, from time to time direct ; and such Treasurers, or other officers as aforesaid shall, in their accounts, be allowed credit for all sums paid by them in pursuance of such orders, and the receipts of the persons to whom such sums shall have been paid, shall be to them a fall discbarge of the sum or sums for wbicb such leceiptt shall have been given, and the amounts thereof shall be passed to their credit in account accordingly.
