English Shipping.* New Steam Navigation Company. — We are informed by a passenger by "the Ferozepore, that on the 4th July, the day .the ship left Greenwich, a meeting was held in London for the purpose- of appointing * Provisional Committee of a New Steam Navigation' Company, in connection with the Isthmus of Panama Railway Company. The new Company was formed

expressly for the purpose of laying, on a line of steamers to Sydney via Panama.— .dr^u*. , '. The greatest impetus has been "gran id' the shipping trade by the discovery of 'gold in Australia, of which more than £800,000 has arrived home this month. A Tery large number of ships have been put on for the Australian colonies, and there is a great increase of building. The Sunderland Newt last week gives a list of about eighty ships that are being built at Sunderlandalone. — Liverpool Chronicle,' July 3. The Great Britain. — This leviathan screw steamer is about to be transferred to the Eagle line of Australian packets belonging to her present owners, Messrs. Gibbs, Bright & Co., Liverpool. She is announced to leave that port for Melbourne, Port Phillip, on the 21st August next.' She will carry three classes of passengers ; upper saloon, leventy guineas. The Great Britain will have accommodation for about 1000 passengers. She arrived from New York on Wednesday, having made the run in 10 days and 23 hours. Our townsman, Mr. J. C. Mathews, the brother of the commander, is the agent for Plymouth — Plymouth Time*.
