Dublin, Tuesday Morning, May 18. — The hopes of those who rashly conceived that a change of "men" would be cSrfain" to lead to a corre- J sponding change of " measures," at least as far as regarded the position of those who took part in the incipient outbreak of '48, must have been sadly disappointed by the result of the trial maJe yesterday on the patience and good nature of Lord Eglinton. Indeed, the gentlemen who originated the movement cannot but now feel that the step they took in thus opening up old sores waa pre-eminently in the wrong direction, and that the only effect of their untimely interference has been to render more hopeless the prospect of any mitigation of the punishment awarded to the subjects of the memorialists' commiseration. Twelve o'clock yesterday was the hour appointed for receiving the deputation at the Viceregal-lodge in the Park. It consisted of the Lord Mayor, the High Sheriff of Clare, Very Rev. Dr. Spratt, Sir Colman O'Loghlen, Mr. Thomas H. Barton, Mr. Arthur, Mr.Deasy, a.C, Dr. Gray, Mr. O'Ferrall,- Mr. Ralph. His Excellency, attended by Captain Womb-, well, and Lord Adolphus Vaue, Aides-de-camp in wailing, received the deputation in the draw-ing-room. The Right Hon. the Lord Mayor having briefly explained their object, read the following
