The Cabinet.—Lord John Russell arrived in London on Saturday morning from his residence in Richmond-park, and received a visit in Downing-street from the Count de Flahault, His lordship left town in the afternoon, on his return to Richmond-park. Lord Granville, the new Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, took possession of his office in Downing-street, on Saturday. Several of the Foreign Ministers, including his Excellency the French Ambassador, attended during the day at the Foreign Office. The whole of the corps diplomatique (ambassadors, ministers, and charges d’affaires) will pay their respects and congratulations to the noble earl on his accession to his present office in the course of next week. Lord Lansdowne is at his seat, Bowood, with Lord Seymour, and a select circle staying on a visit. Early next week, other members of the Cabinet are expected to arrive, and the party will remain at Bowood for several days. Lord Minto is still in Scotland. Lord Grey, Sir George Grey, the Lord Chancellor, Lord Clanricarde, Mr. Fox Maule, and the Chancellor of the Exchequer are in London, Lord Broughton remains at Eristoke-park. — Ministerial Paper, (quoted in Times of Dec. 29.) It was reported that the Queen was about to visit Ireland, and would embark at Bristol. The Admiralty had ordered two vessels to be fitted out to visit some of the South Sea Islands, in order to determine upon the site of a new penal settlement. Consols closed on the 22nd at 97 1-J- which shows that there was but little fear on the Stock Exchange of any general outbreak in France.
