New Zealand Spectator AND COOK’S STRAIT GUARDIAN. Saturday, January 24, 1852.

Ry the Government Brig we have received a Lyttelton Tinies of 17th January, but it contains little news of local interest. Col. Campbell, the Commissioner of Crown Lands of the Middle district, had published a schedule of thirty-one applications for sheep and cattle runs on the Crown Lands in his district. The Tinies contains a journal by Mr. Lee of an overland journey from Nelson to the Port Cooper Plains; Mr. Lee crossed Mr. Clifford’s track at several points, but the opinions of these two gentlemen are reported to differ as to the value of the route, which Mr. Clifford does not appear to think so favourably of, as Mr. Lee does, in the facilities it affords for driving stock between the two settlements.
