OTAGO.
[From the Otago Witness.) We have much pleasure in returning the thanks of the colonists of Otago to our friends at home for the seasonable present of a Bell for the Church here. The casting presents in relief thejfollowing inscription :— C. & G. Mears, Founders, London. To the First Church of Dunedin, The Rev. Thomas Burns, Minister. From a few friends of the Free Church of Scotland. And on the opposite side— Time is Short. The Bell weighs about 3 cwt., and is of a rich full and clear tone, and has been hung in a wooden tower erected upon Church.hill, the future site of the Church of Otago, the building at present used for the purpose not being considered of sufficient strength to bear the strain of ringing a bell of such proportions.
