AUCKLAND.
We have received a Southern Cross of Nov. 21st. The first election for the members of the Corporation of Auckland took place on the 18th inst. According to the Southern Cross the spirit of the contest was exclusively confined to the Middle Ward, the candidates being Mr. Williamson one of the Proprietors of the New Zealander, and Mr. A. Clark ; the election terminated, in favour of the latter candidate. A notification had been published by the Lieutenant Governor that the oaths of office would be publicly administered to the Mayor and Corporation by the Chief Justice on the 22nd instant:— The following is the Official Return of the numbers polled at the respective Wards: — East Town Ward. 17 a am uaij, ••«••«•»•••••»»• *4O J.
