Last Tuesday’s Government Gazette contains a proclamation of a sale of Crown Lands at Nelson, to take place on the 29th of next November, of 17 town lots and 1 rural lot; also a list of Crown Grants issued to purchasers from the New Zealand Company and others in the Nelson settlement. The number issued to private individuals, purchasers from the Company, is two hundred and twelve; the number of grants under purchases from the Crown is twentysix, and the number of grants for Educational and Religious purposes is twentyeight. This is worthy of notice, as the first batch of Crown Grants issued to the Company’s purchasers, who at length receive, after so many j ears’ patient expectation, from the Government what the Company could never give them—a valid title to their land.
