New Zealand Spectator AND COOK’S STRAIT GUARDIAN. Wednesday, June 25, 1851.
By the Munford, news to the 24th February has been received vid Hobart Town of the resignation of Lord John Russell’s ministry. The Perseverance also brought yesterday, from Lyttelton, the mails (contained in twenty bags) of the Duke of Bronte and Steadfast, but their English dates extend only to the 27th February, three davs later, and nothing decisive had been announced on the subject of a new Administration when the Steadfast sailed. From the Lyttelton Times we learn the Labuan was laid on for Canterbury, to sail on Gth April, and the Dominion for Sth May. The Canterbury Association was about to apply to Parliament for a new ( Bill authorising “ some very important changes in its constitution and powers, with reference more especially to the qualification of its members, the disposal of pasturage, the laying out of roads, and the offering of Debentures on the security of future land sales.
