And whereas the Directors of the Neil Zealand Company did on the fifth daym July last past, give to the Right Honorabhß Earl Grey, Our Principal Secretary of State| for the Colonies, such notice as in pursuance of the above recited proriß sions: ! And whereas on the giving of such no.B tice as aforesaid all the lands, tenement!,! and hereditaments, of the said Company a I New Zealand reverted to and became vest.! ed in Us as part of the Demesne Lands dg the Crown in New Zealand, subject, never.! theless, as aforesaid, to any contracts which| were then subsisting in regard toanyoftbel said lands. i And whereas certain contracts have been! entered into between the New Zealand Com-a pany and certain bodies of settlers, and! others, in regard to Lands in New mods- b ter aforesaid, namely, with the settlers at| Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth,! and the Associations of Otago and Can-| terbury. And whereas it is apprehended that Ibej provisions contained in the thirteenth chap-g ter of the said Instructions are, in certain] respects, inconsistent with the said contractij between the New Zealand Company anil the said respective settlers and Associations:| And it is expedient that the said Instag lions should be repealed, so far as regard!| the Lands comprised in, or affected hytkj said contracts, as far as the same may kg inconsistent with the said contracts respec-g tively or any part thereof.
