- ■ ---- g{ Building Society.—A meeting of the n® bers of the Building Association was held the Mechanics’ Institute yesterday evening. Mr. W. B. Rhodes in the chair. The meet' ing was numerously attended. Mr. Allen gave a brief summary of tb proceedings of the society, and informedtL' members present that the number of shares subscribed for amounted to 154, and th 144 shareholders had paid the entranced of 2s. 6d. per share ; the amount paid fl then handed over to the treasurer. The following committee was act provisionally :—Messrs. G. Allen, GJ Wallace, G. Edwards, W. Bannister, sen! C. R. Carter, W. P. Pickering, E. Rubertj W. Norgrove, E. Stafford, W. Levy, J. M. Taylor, J, Woodward, anaj D. Barraud. — Trustees: Messrs. J Rhodes, C. Clifford, W. W. Taylor, VI F. Christian, and W. Dorset; Treason Mr. W. B. Rhodes. Mr. Allen was appointed to act as nager. . ' A subscription was opened for the p* pose of printing the proposed rales, in or to afford information to the settlers in country districts. . , _ A vote of thanks was then given to chairman, and the meeting separated.
