A dinner was given to Mr. Fox on Saturday evening at Barrett’s Hotel, which was attended by his personal friends, and members of the Constitutional Association. The only pretence that can be- made of its being a public dinner is the short advertisement inserted in Saturday’s Independent, the day on which the dinner took place. Including the tickets that were given away, we are informed there were not more than twentyeight persons present. The principal dish was the Consolation Stakes served up with a few crumbs of comfort, but report says it was spoiled in the cooking.
