Hurdle Race.—A purse of £2O, added to a sweepstakes of £2 2s. each—heats—twice round the course over hurdles 3 feet 9 inches high. 6 leaps in each heat—open to all horses. Weight 1, 4 years old, 10 stone ; 5 years, 10 stone 71bs; 6 years and aged, 11 stone. Second horse to save his stakes. To start at half-past One. The Trial Stakes.—Value £ , added to a sweepstakes of 10s. 6d. each, for horses bred in the colony that have never won a race—heats—twice round the course. VTciglits, 3 years, 8 stone ; 4 years, 9 stone; 5 years, 9 stone 71bs.; 6 years and aged, 10 stone. Second horse to save his stakes. To start at Three o'clock. The Petoni Stakes of £ , added to a sweepstakes of £1 Is. each. Weights and conditions the same as for the Licensed Victuallers’ Purse. To start at Four o'clock. Consolation Stakes, value £ , added to a handicap of £1 each. Open to all horses not winners at this meeting. Post entrances —heats— twice round the course. The horses to be handicapped by the Stewards. Three horses to start or no race. There will be a distance post for each race. The winner of the Jockey Club handicap to carry 41bs. extra, and the winner of the Burnham Water stakes to carry 41bs. extra. Mares and geldings allowed 3ibs. Thoroughbred horses to carry 71bs. extra. To avoid disputes, all horses that have at any time been advertized in this colony as thoroughbred, or may have carried extra weight at any previous races as thoroughbred, will be considered to come under that denomination. Thirty minutes only will be allowed between the heats; at the end of t verity minutes a bell will be rung for saddling, and the start will take place.punctually at the half hour. Objections to the age or qualification of horses to be made in writing to the Secretary at Taylor’s Commercial Room, on or before Monday the 17th February, at noon. These races to be run under the rules of the Wellington Jockey Club, and all disputes to be settled by the Stewards of the Races, whose decision shall be final. No person will be allowed to enter a horse for any of the races, unless a subscriber of one guinea to the fund. Dogs running at large on the course will be destroyed. Parties wishing to erect booths must do so under the direction of the Clerk of the Course, and by application to Mr. J. M. Burcham.
