By the Nelson Examiners recently received, we observe that District meetings had taken place at Richmond and Motueka on the subject of.tlie New Constitution, which had been attended by a deputation from the Nelson Constitutional Association advocating certain propositions, thirteen in number, and including among other points universal suffrage, and vote by ballot. A general meeting of the settlers of Nelson had taken place on the 27th ult., which, according to the Examiner, was fully attended, and a report of which is to appear in a future number of that paper. The Superintendent of Nelson had received from the Local Government an intimation that the sum £2,000, being part of the Parliamentary Grant, was at his disposal for improving the communication between Nelson and Wairau. A sum of £6O, the unpaid balance of a donation of £lOO promised by the New Zealand Company, had been received by

the Literary Institution at Nelson, which amount had been expended, and a portion of the books, forming an addition of 165 volumes to the Library, had been received, the remaining portion is expected by the next ship.
