CmcKET--The conquering match between the 65th regt., and Civilians with the Staff, came off on Thorndon Flat on Thursday the 2nd inst., and was won by the former with two wickets to spare, after a well contested game. The play on both sides during the first innings was as good, if not better than any we have previously witnessed. The bowling of Greenwood and Copestake on the side of the Military, and that of Wood and Clout on the side of the Civilians, was undeniably good. In the second innings of both parties there was some very fine batting and some large scores obtained. The 65th had to go in against 107 runs, having been 21 behind in the first innings, these were ob-
tained in excellent style much to the surprise of their adversaries, who certainly appeared to have lost the game through some very indifferent and careless fielding. The score will be published in our next namber.
