PHOINIX. HIRE IMPORTED ENTIRE HORSE JL Fhoenix, imported by Mr. Hill, of Sydney, and sold to Mr. Rouse, of Box Hill, near Windsor, for 800 Guineas. Phoenix is a beautiful bay, with black points, and full of bone, stands 16 hands 1 inch high, with superior action, and free from natural defects. Phoenix was got by Youny Phantom, dam by Admiral, whose sire was General Benefit; Young Phantom, by Phantom, winner of the Derby in 1811, and sire of Cedric and Cobweb, winners of tbc Dcrkv snd Osks in 1824. and uf winner of the Derby in 1825, dam Emelins, winner of the Claret in 1821, by Waxy, sire of Webb, Wofiull, Wire, Whisker, Whalebone, fyc. Phoenix obtained the premium at Beverly in 1840, given by the East Riding Agricultural Society, to the best Stallion for getting Coach Horses and Hunters, beating five others. Captain Apperly, who was for several years in New South Wales, purchasing Horses for the H.E.1.C.5., preferred the colts of Phoenix's get to any in the Colony. Winteringham’s Stables, Lombard Street, every Wednesday and Saturday; and at Mr. Brown’s, Porirua, every Thursday and Friday. For the convenience of Mares.
