rHE UNITED COMMITTEE appointed to collect and transmit articles for the great Exhibition of Industrial Art, to be held in London in ihe ensuing year, respectfully call for the earnest co-operation of their fellow settlers, in order that New Zealand may take its proper place in this Commercial Congress. The Committee need not recapitulate the lists of suitable articles which have been already published, but they invite especial attention to the following : Flax — in all stages of preparation. „ — made into useful articles, such as Rope, Twine, Wool Lashing, Wool Packs, Sacks, &c, &c. • „ — used for ornamental purposes, as Embroider}', &c. Wood — specimens of the various kinds in pieces sufficiently large to shew the grain, &c, with one surface polished. Stone— for building or other purposes, one face smoothed or polished. Barks— for dyeing, tanning, &c, „ — extracts and articles made from, such as Ink, &c. Leather — Hides and Pelts. Wool — in whole fleeces. Ores and Minerals— including Coal, Iron Sand, &c. Shells — useful and ornamental. Hone* and Bees' Wax. Vegetable Oils. Oil and Whalebone — caught on the Coast. Specimens of Native Art — such as Mats, Carvings, Green Stone, Ornaments, &c, &c. All articles intended to be sent to London must be forwarded to the Court House, Wellington, -on or before Saturday, the 16th November 1850. All articles wnich the senders require to be paid for must be accompanied by a note of price, which, if approved of, will be paid by the Committee. Approved articles not paid for, and sent to England, will remain at the disposal of the senders, and will be delivered to their order without charge (except for duty) after the close of the Exhibition in London, where an Agent will be appointed by the Committee, who will take charge of all articles sent, and forward them according to the wishes of the senders. An exhibition of all articles sent to the Committee will take place on the same day, and in the same place, with the first Exhibition in connection with the Wellington Horticultural Society. J. Same day — Cutter Fisherman, 12 tons, Morrison, from Manawatu and Porirua. Same day — Brig Sitter*, 130 tons, Clarke, from San Francisco. Passengers — Mr. J. Annear, and Mr. Squibb. October 31 — Schooner Otago, 70 tons, Stevens, from Otago and Port Victoria. Passengers — Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Weatherall, Mr. Taylor and family, Messrs. Morell, Copeland, M'lntosh, Seed, Kirby, Hunt, M'Koy, and J. Carter. Same day — Schooner Twins, ' 42 tons, Ramage, from Ahuriri and Castle Point.. • Passengers — Mr. Wm. Everett and Mr.' Alexander.

The barque Santipore, from Twofold Bay dirtct, arrived, here on the 9th instant, having on board 300 head of cattle and 14 ' horses. The Lady Clar&e was taking in sheep and cattle for this port at Twofold Bay when the Santipore left. — Otago Newt, October 12.

At Waikanae, on the 28th inst., the wife of D. S. Durie, Esq., of a daughter.
