AGLIONBY RACES. WEDNESDAY.

Hurdle Race.

There was a tolerable number of persons on the course this day, in spite of the wea- ' ther,~ including a sprinkling of the fair sex. The course was very heavy and altogether unfit for racing, still a visible improvement has taken place in its condition since last year.

Vampire led over the first hurdle in true sporting style, followed by Bushman, Lady Helen, Harribogine, and Ringcreevy, Woodstock refusing altogether. Lady Helen on

landing fell and rolled completely over her rider, who, however, immediately mounted and eventually took her round. Ringcreevy and Bushman were the only horses that took their ltaps without refusing, and the whole interest of the race lay between these two after the first round. Rowett fell at the fifth hurdle, and Bushman won the first heat. Five started for the second heat, which was won in good style by Ringcreevy , and four for the third, in which the new horse won easily. The course was anything but pleasant for the jockies, who exhibited some excellent riding, and thorough sporting pluck throughout the Race. Several very ugly falls occurred, but fortunately without any serious result.

The first heat was pretty well contested between Camilla, Pastile, and Scroggins, Bullet Eye having fallen, and Blackbird not making his appearance. Three started for the second heat, which was easily won by Camilla, Pastile having bolted from the starting post.

Clever Hack made a refractory start and was consequently distanced. Lady Helen won easily. The Stewards declared the start a bad one, but we hear that it has since been confirmed, and that the finish of the race takes place this afternoon, at four o'clock, on Burnham Water Course.
