Auckland Shipping. The St. Michael left London the 3rd, Gravesend the sth, and the Downs the 7th September, making the passage in one hundred and twenty-three days. She experienced a succession of calms until she arrived off the Cape of Good Hope, from whence she had good weather. She spoke no vessel connected with these colonies. There is no news whatever by this arrival of the Richard Part. New Zealander, Jan. 9.
Intelligence has reached Auckland of the total wreck of the Government schooner Albert, at Mercury Bay, during the gales of the last month. She was standing out to sea from a lee shore, after a heavy gale, when suddenly the wind lulled leaving a heavy swell, by which she was carried on shore and dashed to pieces on the rocks. The hands all escaped with much difficulty. The Albert was engaged on survey service, under the com, mand of Mr. J. C. Smith, of H. M. Steamer Acheron, when the occurrence took place. — Ibid. The schooner Providence, Capt. James, has also been totally wrecked near Tauranga, about the same time the Albert was lost. — Ibid. The Barque Cornelia, Mickleburg, sailed on the 10th September for Port Phillip, Wellington, and Auckland. — Southern Cross, Jan. 11. The Barque Clara had been again taken up for Auckland and Wellington, to sail Ist November. — Ibid. The St. Michael's cargo for Auckland being now all discharged, she will sail for Wellington on Saturday. The following extract from this vessel's log-book has been kindly handed us by Captain Prance, her commander : — Sunday, 9th Dec, 1849, strong winds, going 9 knots an hour ; lat. 41 deg. 17 mm. south, long, 97 deg. 55 mm. 30 sec, 6 p.m.; out from London Docks 97 days ; passed a wreck at about 2 p.m., being about one mile off astern when we discovered her, and a heavy sea running at the time. It appeared to be a vessel on her beam ends, with one topmast, about 10 feet above water, in the roll of the sea, apparently the topmast cross-trees on, and no topgallant mast on end, and the rigging hanging in bights beneath the masts. Could see no human being on it, although looking towards it from our deck and abaft for a long time.— Southern Cross, Jan. 18. Numerous whalers are reported having been seen cruising off the grounds in the neighbourhood of the North Cape and the Three Kings. In our last we reported the arrival of several at IVionganui. The Edward, from Russell, reports the arrival at the Bay of Islands of the Louis, of New Bedford, 7 months out, with 70 barrels sperm oil. And the Children, likewise from Russell, reports the arrival of the Abraham, H. Howland, of New Bedford, 16 months out, with 500 barrels black oil, 30 barrels sperm, and 6000 lbs. whalebone. — Ibid, Jan. 4.
> ote. — We received a notice last night of an alt eration in the time of the Lady Clarkes sailing for Sydney, viz., from the 26th to the 30th January, current, too late for insertion in the advertisement in our first page.
