New Zealand Spectator, AND COOK'S STRAIT GUARDIAN. Saturday, January 19, 1850.

By the Mooltan's Mail we have received English papers to the 4th September, copious extracts from which will'be found in the columns of our present number. -' ,

Cricket. — A match was played on Wednesday at Thorndon between the 65th Regiment and the Wellington Cricket Club. The 65th went in first but owing to the excellent .bowling of Mr! Wood of the

Commissariat and Clout, they only scored 25 runs. The Wellington Club then went in and had an excellent innings, scoring 174 runs. In the second innings the 65th scored only "50, their opponents thus winning" by 99 runs in one innings. The fielding of the Wellington Club was on this occasion excellent, and to this cause, and the bowling of Messrs Wood and Clout, is chiefly 1 to be attributed the small score made by the 65th. Subjoined is the score. —
