BURNHAM WATER RACES.

The Races will commence on Burnham Water Course as follows :—: — On Wednesday, January 23, 1850. To start at half-past Eleven. The Wellington Jockey Club Plate of not less than Twenty Guineas, added to a handicap of Four Guineas eeach.h — h. ft. if declared within three days after the weights are published — two mile course — second horse to save his stakes. The following horses entered for this Race in terms of the conditions: — Mr, St. Hill's b. m. Pastile, 5 years; 10 stone Mr, J. M. Taylors b. g. Bullet Eye, aged, 9 stone, 7lb Mr. Fox's b. h. Ancient Mariner, aged, 10 stone Captain Marshall's b. g. Vampire, 6 years, 9 stone, 111b Dr. Featherston's c. m. Nominee, 6 years, 9 stone, 7ft Mr. Rowlands' b. g. Scroggins, alias Minimus, aged, 10 stone Lieutenant Gordon's g. h. Rubens, 4 years, 10 stone Mr. Armstrong's b. g. Ringcreevy, alias Rainbow, aged, 10 stone, 7ib Mr. Burcham's b. m. Camilla, 5 yeaxs, 9 stone, 7ft

To start at half-past One.

The Produce Cur, value 50 Guineas, to be run for by the 4-year old produce of Ether and Riddlesworth — Entrance Two Guineas each — To start from south end of the course, once round and in — weight 10 stone — heats — three to start, or no race.

To start at half past Two.

Burnham Water Stake 3, value £ , added to a sweepstake ->f Two Guineas each — heats, twice round the course, open to all horses — weights, 6-year old and aged, 10 st. 71b. ; 5 yrs. 10 st. ; 4 years, 9st. 71b. ; 3 years, Bst. 71b.*— second horse to save his stakes. On Thursday, 24th January. To start at half. past Eleven. Hurdle Raee — a Purse of £ , added to a i sweepstake of Two Guineas each — heats, twice round the course, over hurdles 3ft. 9in. high, r six leaps in each heat, open to all horses—, weights, 4- year old, 10 st. , 5 years, lOst. 71b.; 6 years and aged, 11 stone — second horse to save his stakes.

To start at half-past One.

The Scurry Stakes, value £ , added to a sweepstakes of One Guinea each — heats, twice round the course — catch weights.

To start at half-past Two.

The Ladies' Purse of £ , added to a sweepstakes of Two Guineas each — Gentlemen Riders — heats, twice round the course — weights, 6 year old and aged 12 stone ; 5 years, list. 71b. : 4 years, 11 st.; 3 years, 10 stone. A Beaten Stakes, open to all horses not winners — post entrances — conditions same as for Burnham Water Stakes.

In all Races (where not above enumerated) three horses to start or the public money will not be given. There will be a distance post. In all races Mares and Geldings allowed 3 lbs., thorough-bred horses to carry 7 lbs. extra. All disputes to be settled by the Stewards, and their decision to be final. Thirty minutes between the heats A bell will be rung at the end of twenty minutes for saddling, and the start will take place punctually at the half hour. Weights and Scales will be provided. All dogs running at large on the Course will be destroyed. Parties wishing to erect booths must do so under directions of the Clerk of the Course. Fee £2 2s. All Entrances to be made from half-past 7, to close at 9 o'clock on WEDNESDAY Evening, the 16th January Current, at Barrett's Hotel. It is requested that any notices of matches may be given to the Stewards at the time of the entry for the above races. K. BETHUNE, Hon. Sec. 8f Treasurer. NOTICE.

KILLED OR STOLEN, about ten days ago, a Red Terrier Dog. — He had on him a curb chain collar with a small brass plate, on which was engraved — " Major Patience, 65th Regt." Whoever will give such information at the office of this Paper as will lead to his discovery will be handsomely rewarded. Wellington, Ist Jan. 1850.
