HOUSE OF COMMONS— Wednesday.

The Speaker took the chair at a quarter past two o'clock, when he announced that he had received a letter from the Right Hon. the Earl of Dalhousie, acknowledging the thanks of the house in the following terms :—: — Simlab, , 1849. Sir, — I have had the honour of receiving your letter, dated 25th April, enclosing tha resolutions adopted by the House of Commons on the previous day. In obedience with the command of the house I have communicated the resolutions to Lord Gough and tha several officers mentioned therein. On my own part 1 have to express the gratitude with which I received this distinguished mark of the approbation of the house. At a few minutes to three o'clock, Sir Augustus Clifford, the Usher of the Black Rod, appeared at the table, and summoned the house to appear in the House o£ Peers to hear the Royal commission for pro* roguiDg the parliament reai. The Speaker accompanied by all the members present, retired ; they, returned in about three-quarters of tn hour, when all the members having formed a circle round the table, at which the Speaker had taken his place, tha Royal Speech was read. -, The greater part of the members present shook hands with the Speaker, and the session was at a close.
