MEETING OF LAND OWNERS.
At a Meeting of land purchasers and Holdera of Compensation Scrip, held at Barrett's Hotel on the sth September, 1849 it was moved by Dr. Featherston, seconded by Captain Sharp, and carried unanimously — ' 1. That land owners desirous of exchanging sections, bu requested to semi in writing to the Principal Agent of the New Zealand Company, on or before the Ist day of October next, a statement of the sections they propose to abandon ; and that the reseleciion shall take place, in accordance with the terms arranged at previous meetings, on the 16th day of October next, at the Company's office, at 12 o'clock. Parties not to be considered as having finally thrown up their sections, until they have expressed their decision on the day appointed for respecting ; and it being further understood and agreed that parties desirous of reselecting in the Rangitiki district are at liberty to postpone making their rese- " lections until' the Compensation block is sur- , Veyed. •' * It-wasTonovediiy Mr. Moore, seconded by Mr. Parker, and carried unanimously — 2. That in exchanging country sections for town sections, the lands so to be exchanged shall be valued respectively by R. Park, Esq., on hehalf of the New Zealand Company, and by Captain Sharp on behalf of the land owners. Any difference of of opinion to be settled by a third party to be named by the valuers ; it being understood that the value of the town sections shall be fixed before the Ist day of October nexi, — any diffeience in value to be adjusted in land. It was moved by Dr. Featherston, seconded by Mr. Harrison, and carried unanimously — 3. That Mr. Park be deputed to select two or more blocks of 5 or 6,000 acres each comprising the best land in the Rangitiki and Turakitia districts, and that as soon as the Survey of these blocks shall be completed, the holders of one or more compensation scrip, who intend choosing in the recently purchased dictricts, shall be called upon to select within these blocks, holders of several scrips being entitled to select their lands in blocks outside of the surveyed districts. Holders of the first series are entitled to reselect according to their original order of choice, in the Wellington settlement, and in the recently purchased districts, previous to the holders of the second series. ,2. Holders of the second series are entitled to reselect in the Wanganui settlement according to their original order of choice, previous to the holders of the first series, and in the Wellington settlement and the Rangitiki district after the holdeis of the first series; the latter class having the privilege of reselecting in the Wanganui settlement after the holders of the second series have made their reselectionsk Wellington, 7th September, 1849.
