[From the Government Gazette, June 12.] NOTICE. — *— Colonial Secretary's Office, Wellington, '9th June, 1849. HIS EXCELLENY THE LIEUTEN-ANT-GOVERNOR directs ie to be notified, for general information, that during the winter season, and until further notice is given, no Cattle will be allowed tv pass over the New Road between the Mungaroa and the top of the Rimutaka Range ; — and any person or persons attempting to pass with Cattle after this notice, will be prosecuted for the full amount of the damage done to the road arising from such attempt. This prohibition does not extend to Sheep or Horses, but Cattle only. By His Excellency's Command, (Signed) Alfred Domett, Colonial Secretary.
