The Council was chiefly occupied yesterday with the consideration of the Scab Bill, which passed through Committee. The •Revenue Appropriation Bill was read a second time, and will be considered in Committee on Wednesday, when a discussion will arise on the Estimates for the current year.
The Barque Emma arrived on Thursday from Newcastle, with cattle, sheep, and horses, after a passage <>f fifteen days, with-
out having lost any of.herstock. The Sydney papers by this opportunity, which are to the 26th ult., do not contain any news of interest. The post office packet for December had arrived at Sydney.
We understand that answers have been received, by the Ennerdnte, to the letters sent by H. M. S. Calliope. The Calliope's mails were transferred, at Rio, to H. M. Steamer Samoson, which arrived in England on the 26th December.
