In a recent number we alluded to the meeting at Manawatu, of the chiefs and tribes owning land along the coast, which had been appointed for the purpose of entering into negociations with them for the sale of the districts about -Rangitiki and Manawatu. The result of * these negociations is, 1 as we are informed, that the Ngatiapas, the original owners of the district, have consented to sell to the Government (suflicient-reserves being made ( for , their own use) all the land north of the Rangitiki and lying between that river and the Wanganui block, and extending from the sea shore' to the hills, being a distance of upwards of forty miles.
