OTAGO. [From the Otago News.]

Christmas Dat.— lA party of American whalers having drank not " wisely but too well," created a little disturbance in our usual quiet town ; but through the activity of the magistrates in swearing in special constables, the tumult was soon quelled. - Great praise is also due to the "'specials" for the ! prdmpt manner in which they answered to the call, and to the' unwearied patience they displayed in standing " ready -prepared" for two long, lingering hours before'the Royal Hotel, till the chills of- evening warned them to depart to pursuits more congenial. |

Port Chalmers. —Messrs. The colonists may now advance cheerfully and with confidence —native disputes of any kind never have and we may 'assure our readers, never will affect this settlement —perfect security exists —and prosperity and concord will henceforth reign paramount.
