To the Editor of the Wellington Independent. Wellington, 4th January, 1849.
Sir, — A correspondent in your paper of yesterday's date has misinformed you in reference to a meeting lately held for the purpose of electing a committee for the ensuing races. He states that amongst the thirteen who voted for the nominee list were the Colonial Secretary and Auditor- General. I heg to state most distinctly that neither myself nor the Colonial Secretary voted at the meeting alluded to. I remain, Sir, Your obedient servant, Godfrey Thomas.
