NEWS FROM INDIA.

We have news from India to the end of September. The Mooltan affair was brought to a close. A large force had assembled under General Whish, and previous to its arrival the irregulars, under the command of Captain Edwardes, had twice encountered the Dewan Moolraj, defeated him, and driven him into the strongly fortified city of Mooltan. Here he offered to surrender, if his life was spared, but this was positively refused in consequence of the murder of Messrs. Agnew and Kennedy. On the 12th September the outworks of Mooltan were attacked, and after some hard fighting were taken. The loss of the enemy, was most severe. The particulars of the casualties on our side do not appear in the papers before us, but they must have been heavy, : as Colonel Pattoun, of H.M. 32nd regimenf, Major MUjntizambert, of H.M. 10th 5 , 7 ! and three other officers, were killed. Having planted the siege train within six hundred' yards of the wall/it was expected there would be a practicable breach on the 13th, When the city would be taken by assault, and the war be over ; but ; unfortunately our files are not late enough by a day or two to give as the result, ~
