Phcenix was got by Young Phantom, dam by Admiral, w'ho-.e sire was Gener&l Benefit,' Young Phantom,' by Phantom, winner of the Derby in 1811, andsire of Cedric and Cobweb; winners of the Derby and Oaks in 1824, and aiMiddleton, winner of the Derby in 1825, dam Emetine, winner of the Claret in 1821. by Waxy, sire of Webb, Wofull, Wire, Whisker, Whalebone, !fc. -> Phoenix obtained the premium at Beverly in 1840, given by the East Riding Agricultural Society, to the ' Best Stallion for getting Coach Horses and Hunters, beating five others.
