NOTICE. Colonial Secretary's Office, Wellington, 12th October, 1848.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTE-NANT-GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct it to be notified that, pursuant to the provisions of the Ordinance of Council, Session 8, No. 12, intituled the "Footpath Ordinance," all that footpath which has been marked out by posts, and which extends from the corner of Mr. Geo. Scott's store, in Mulgrave- street, and thence to the end of the said street, and along 1 Lambtonquay to the corner of "Willis-street, and also that footpath now formed along the East side of "Willis-street from the beach to the corner of Ghuznee-street, in the town "of "Wellington, are hereby declared and intended to come within the meaning of the said Ordinance. His Excellency also directs that the following clause of the Ordinance before referred to, be published for general information : — Clause 4. "If any person who shall be found running, drawing, or driving any truck, wheelbarrow, cart, or carriage, or, who shall be found riding, leading, or driving any horse, or any horned or neat cattle*, upon any such footpath as aforesaid, shall continue so to do, after being warned to the contrary, by any constable or other person, every person so offending shall, upon conviction, forfeit and pay for every such offence the sum of Five Pounds, to be recovered in a summary way."
