Wellington, September 12, 1848. Siit,-»-Having been informed that some persons have mistaken the purport of the advertisement which appeared in your last publication respecting the property of the Port Nicholson Mechanics' Institute, I beg you will allovr me, a3 temporary Secretary of the Institute, to explain the matter. The advertisement in question refers to the property of the former Institute, (or, as some persons express it, the former existence of the present Institute) and not to the books taken from the library under the new arrangement.
