CAPE OF GOOD HOPE. [From the Launceston Examiner.]
We have files of Cape papers by the John Souchey to the end oi February ; hut the Mauritius journals by" that vessel contain Cape news to the 23rd March. All was quiet on the frontier. The new settlements on the borders were progressing, and the natives seem generally" satisfied with the arrangements in their favour ; but the emigrant boers were reported to manifest a hostile spirit, and to be determined to refuse to acknowledge the supremacy of the British Government. The vessels of her Majesty at Simon's Bay, were the President, Seringafatam, Nimrod; steamers Geyser, Rosamond, and Vulture; the latter from China bound to" England. The Nimrod arrived in Simon's Bay in charge of R. Floud, Esq., Captain Dacres having died on the Mozambique coast. Lieutenant Belgrave, flag-lieutenant of the President, has heen appointed to the acting command of the Nimrod by Admiral Dacres.
