Remarks. — A White Flag at Mast Head de notes a sail in sight; when the cjass is ascertained, the descriptive Signal will be hoisted «t the Yard Arm. English vessel of war, Union Jack at Mast Head. Foreign vessel of war, Union Jack at Mast Head, with white Pendant. Government brig, white Pendant under- descriptive Signal. ' ' When a' vessel is at anchor, either inside- or outside the Heads, the flag is lowered to half mast. s A vessel in distress,, or on shore, descriptive ■ signal half mast. i Fore and aft schooner, a triangle hollow in ; the centre.
