NELSON. [From the Nelson Examiner, April 15.]
We understand that a Scottish clergyman, a Mr. Nicholson, has been sent oat by the Free Church to this settlement. Mr. Nicholson was to leave Scotland in October, and we expect that he has arrived in Wellington in the Indian. The Star ofCTdnu arrived on Monday from Sydney and T aranaki. She landed a cargo of hoiseSiand cattle at that settlement, and
returns there to load with potatoes for Sydney. The Star of China has made a quick voyage up and down from Sydney, having been absent from Nelson only six weeks, including her stay at Taranaki. The Comet and Brightman were both in Sydney, about to load with sheep for this port, and may therefore be now expected daily. We have not ascertained the latest price of grain in the Sydney market, but potatoes were from £7 to £9 a ton.
