BURNHAM WATER RACES.

The Races will take place on BURNHAM WATER COURSE, as follows :—: —

On WEDNESDAY, 2nd FEBRUARY.

To start at Half-past Eleven.

A Purse of j£3o, added to a Sweepstakes of £2 each. Heats twice round the course over hurdles, 3 feet 9 inches high. Six leaps in each heat ; open to all horses. Weights, 3 years old, 10 stone ; 4 years, 11 stone ; 5 years, 11 stone, 7 lb. ; 6 years and aged, 12 stone. The second horse to save his stakes. Three to start, or the money added will not be given.

To start at Half-past One.

A Purse of j£2o, added to a Sweepstakes of £2 each. Heats twice round the Course ; open to all horses. Weights, 3 years old, 9 stone ; 4 years, 10 stone ; 5 years, 10 stone, 7 lb. ; 6 years and aged, 11 stone. Second horse to save his stakes ; 3 to start, or the money added will not be given.

To start at Half-past Two.

The Ladies' Purse, added to a Sweepstakes of £2 each. Gentlemen Riders. Heats twice round the Course. Welter weights, 3 years old, 10 stone, 7 lbs. ; 4 years, 11 stone, 7 lb. ; 5 years, 12 stone, 2 lb. ; 6 years, and aged, 12 stone, 10 lbs.

On THURSDAY, 3ed FEBRUARY.

To start at Half-past Eleven.

A Purse of i?2O, presented by the Hon. H. W. Petre. Entrance £2. Best of heats, twice round the course. Six leaps over hurdles, 3 feet, 9 inches high, in each heat. No distance ; open to all horses carrying 11 stone, 6 lbs. each. The second horse to receive the entrance money.

To start at Half-past One. Beaten Stakes for all Horses that have started and not won in the Flat Race of the First Day. Entrance, £2 : subject to the same conditions and weights as for the Flat Race. Two to start, or no race.

To start at Half-past Two. A Purse presented by Licensed Victuallers of Wellington, added to a Sweepstakes of One Sovereign each. Heats twice round the Course. Catch weights ; three to start, or the money added will not be given.

There will be a Distance Post. All disputes to be settled by the Stewards, and their decision to be final. All objections to the age of horses, &c, to be made and disposed of previous to the Races, and a written notice thereof to be given to the Stewards or the Clerk of the Course at least one hour previous to the hour fixed for starting. The winner of the Hurdle Race or the Flat Race on the Te Aro course to carry 71bs. extra. It is requested that notice of any matches may be given to the Stewards at the time of the entry for the above races. All entries to be made to the Committee, who will be at Barrett's Hotel on Thursday evening, the 27th January, from \ past 7 till 10 for that purpose. NOTICE.

IN CONSEQUENCE of the improvements still going on upon the Course, it was resolved — that no person be allowed to train or gallop any horse thereon this season ; but, in order that the riders may have an opportunity of taking the horses over the race ground previous to the Races — that the Course be thrown open for that purpose on Monday the 31st day January next.
