NEW ZEALAND (No 2) BILL. HOUSE OF LORDS, JULY 19.
Earl Grey, in moving the order of the day for going into committee on the New Zealand (No. 2) Bill, observed, that the most gratifying acpounts had been received from, the colony ; that the natives were in the constant, habit of resorting to the British forts to have their disputes, decided ; that peace and good order had been entirely established ; and that, as a natural consequence, the revenue of the colony was increasing, industry was flourishing, and there was every prospect that, in the course of a few years, New Zealand would become one of the mpst prosperous possessions of, the British. Crown.
