(From our Taranaki Correspondent. J . t 10th December, 1847. The barque Ralph Bernal anchored this morning from England via Nelson, and landed four settlers and the freight for this place. That however has been recently arranged by the' land purchasers accepting the proposition of the resident Agent, which now only requires approval on^the^gart of the Company. „ , . , Twenty-two head of cattle recently arrived from Wellington overland, were sold by auction in this settlement on ths Ist instant, and realized the following' 'average'' prices :—9: — 9 bullocks, £29* 487 per pair';> 4 co*Bf.£l4 Bs. each ; 8 heifers, £13 165;.. 3d. each ; and I steer, £8. ■ ■ £jC~The crops generally promise to yield well, and the settlement is' quiet, the natives, Jiaving no inducement to disturb us..
