VAN DIEMEN'S LAND.

Mr. Jackson, the Van Diemen's Land agent, is strongly urging the Secretary of State to send female emigrants to Van Diemen's LanaT * The Conynissariat of Van Diemen's Land require tenders for 1,500 bushels of wheat by the 13th instant. Mr. j; T. Clark, from Van Diemen's Land, just arrived upon his station on the Wimmera to witness the pleasing sight of 300 of his sheep being drowned in one lot, in the process of washing. Mr. Bricknall, of Mount Macedon, met with a similar misfortune through the carelessness of one of his shepherds, by which ninety sheep were destroyed. The whole of the shares to raise the £5,000 required for the commencement of the Hobart Town Proprietary School have been subscribed for. Messrs. Lowes and Macmichael sold the estate of Ellangowan, Van Dieinen's Land, of 4,230 acres, to Mr. Thomas Young, for £2,050, and 110 acres adjoining, to same person, for £50. Under the new regulations for renting Crown land in Van Diemen's Land, there have been taken 135,410 acres, rental £1,354:2. And, in addition, the tenders recently accepted comprise 184,54*5 acres, rental £3,736 : 7 : 6.
